Today mark's the one year anniversary of Thundercat releasing his brilliant mini-album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam, and to mark the occasion, the bass wizard has shared an animated video for album cut "Song for the Dead."

Directed and animated by Ryan McShane (a.k.a. Ry No), the video sees an illustrated Thundercat guide a wolf into the afterlife with the help of an electronic drum pad and bass guitar (which is soon lit on fire).

Their collaboration came about through conversing over Twitter. Upon hearing the track, McShane was inspired to block out a whole video for the song.

"I just sent it to Thundercat, he loved it," McShane explained in a statement. "So I was locked into it now, my first big solo animation. Naturally, the way I work, I made it even harder for myself – adding colours and extra seconds. Six months later, I'm backstage at Thundercat's show in Brisbane. Talking about art and Kendrick, drinking Hendricks."

The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam is out now through Brainfeeder. Watch the clip for "Song for the Dead" below.
