Thundercat Announces Flying Lotus-Produced 'Apocalypse'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 16, 2013

Two years after bass virtuoso Stephen Bruner premiered his Thundercat project with The Golden Age of Apocalypse, the artist is ready for round two. The similarly, though more straight-forwardly, titled Apocalypse drops July 9 in North America via Brainfeeder, and a day earlier overseas.

Collaborator and Brainfeeder founder Flying Lotus executive produced the 12-song set and also co-wrote the album's first single "Heartbreaks + Setbacks" with Thundercat and Mono/Poly.

You can stream the song, which features a heady blend of stilted beats, airy synths and smoothly sung lines about breakups and makeups, down below.

In related news, Thundercat will be opening for Flying Lotus on his North American spring tour, which includes stops in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
