Genre-jumping, collaborative bass wizard and singer-songwriter Thundercat (real name Stephen Bruner) has grabbed headlines for working with artists like Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus, but he's ready to put out some more of his own material.
The L.A.-based musician has revealed that he will release a new mini-album titled The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam next week. It's due out on June 22 through Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label and follows up 2013's Apocalypse.
The new six-track offering was co-produced by Flying Lotus and Bruner, and also features musical contributions from Kamasi Washington on saxophone, Herbie Hancock on keyboards, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson on strings, and Mono/Poly guest producing.
Before the album arrives, Thundercat has shared jazz-funk jam "Them Changes." It features the aforementioned Washington on saxophone and is sure to suck you in to its spiralling grooves. Scroll past the tracklisting to give it a listen in the player below.
