Despite the overused album title, Thyrane is neither very hypnotic, nor totally generic. Hypnotic is the bands third full-length (first available through Century Media), an onslaught of industrio-metal electricity that could pass for the bastard child of a union between
And Oceans and Dark Tranquillity. You need to like the sound of a synthesiser to get into this one, because when the keyboard is playing its at the front of the mix, and in an odd contrast, the blackened vocals are buried in amongst everything else. Outside of the unexpected Middle Eastern interlude, theres not a lot of subtlety to Hypnotic its all in your face, straightforward melody and aggression. Thyrane offer a lot of energy without presenting much of a listening challenge.
