T.I. Heading Back to Jail

T.I.'s life has been a series of highs and lows for quite some time now, but this week has been insane for the rapper. While earlier this week, he played good Samaritan when he talked a man out of jumping to his death from a building, it seems T.I.'s life has once again come to a crashing halt: he's just been sentenced to 11 more months of prison time.

The rapper appeared in an Atlanta court today (October 15) to defend himself over a his recent drug bust and subsequent failing of a drug test, which revealed he had tested positive for traces of marijuana and codeine. The rapper was already on probation after serving ten months behind bars on federal weapons charges.

A report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution explains that T.I. pleaded for mercy in front of U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr., but could not convince him to keep the rapper out of the clink.

"I screwed up," said the rapper. "I screwed up big time, and I'm sorry. I'm truly and sincerely sorry. I don't want and I don't need to use drugs anymore. I want them out of my life."

But despite the hip-hop star's words, the judge felt unmoved, stating that T.I. "has had about the limit of second chances."

Pannell was even more outraged by T.I.'s behaviour, considering the judge had made the decision to keep the rapper out of prison to perform 1,000 hours of community service.

"You certainly dumped a lot of smut on the whole experiment," he told T.I. at the hearing.

T.I. will begin serving his sentence at as-of-yet-unknown date.
