Canadian sound architect Tim Hecker has a new album called Virgins due out on October 15 through Paper Bag/Kranky, and now he's unveiled a new track from the collection with "Virginal II."
The tense track, which clocks in at close to five and a half minutes, is opened by widely panned pianos motifs. These plunk sparsely for a couple of minutes before being overtaken by a wash of distortion and ambience that eventually turns into a synthesized daydream before returning to a bleary drone in the final passage.
Also on October 15, Kranky will reissue Hecker's album Mirages.
