Far away from the Cape Breton tourist office lives a punk rock band that play their parents instruments after dipping into the familys moonshine supply. Despite the largely acoustic line-up playing into preconceptions of traditional music, the Tom Fun Orchestra came on like Hurricane Juan, propelled by gruff-voiced electric guitarist Ian MacDougall and angel-faced demonic fiddler Morgan Currie. Such is the originality of their songs and the power of their performance that they actually induce amnesia as to why Celtic rock ever got a bad name.
