BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 13, 2011

On March 1, the ever-diverse Tom Waits will release Hard Ground, a poetry/photography book that explores the lives of homeless people. Now, Waits is giving fans a chance to check out the poem "Seeds on a Hard Ground" early, announcing that it will be released as a limited-edition chapbook.

A press release calls the poem "a long lyrical ballad in the voices of those who walked, fell or were pushed to the margins of society." It will be released on February 22 through Anti- in a run of 1,000. All proceeds will go to benefit the homeless, as money will be donated to Redwood Food Bank, Sonoma County's Homeless Referral Services and Family Support Center operated by Catholic Charities. Also, according to the release, it will be published on Waits's website here, though as of press time it is not online.

The chapbook is now available to pre-order here on Waits's website.
