Tony Iommi Diagnosed with Lymphoma, Still Planning to Reunite with Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath are currently gearing up for a much-hyped reunion, but the metal pioneers have hit a snag as guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

The band released a statement confirming that the 63-year-old axe-man is in the "early stages" of cancer. He is reportedly "working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan--the 'IRON MAN' of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."

Iommi will evidently still be participating in the Black Sabbath reunion, and the band have been recording a new album in Los Angeles with Rick Rubin. Tony's diagnosis means that they've now relocated to the UK, presumably so that he can be closer to home.

The Black Sabbath reunion tour is set to get underway in Europe in May. It remains to be seen whether Iommi is well enough to tour, so stay tuned for updates.
