Who said no one buys records anymore? We can tell from the rising levels of excitement from hipster dudes and longhairs alike that the upcoming split record from U.S. doom poppers Torche and Japanese experimental noise stoners Boris is going have more than a few people forking over some bucks to hear the tunes. That is, if they haven't already forked over even more to order it from Japan, where it's been out in CD form since August of last year, through Daymare Records.
But those with patience are being rewarded, as a North American release date for the long-awaited split, Chapter Ahead Being Fake, has been announced. The ten-inch, which features new artwork (see above), will be released through Hydra Head Records on June 29.
Each band will contribute one song to release, but were guessing they're long ones. Torche's contribution marks the first recorded track as a three-piece after guitarist Juan Montoya and the band parted ways in 2008. The video for Torche's tune was released in January (see below).
Torche's next full length, which they recorded themselves, is completed and expected to drop in August, while pre-orders are now being taken for their Meanderthal Demos ten-inch at Amnesian Records.
In the meantime, the band are touring with Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive, providing some much-needed 4/4 beats to a night of dizzying prog punk. Head here for a complete list of tour dates, but know this: there are only two Canuck dates, one in Montreal on May 18 and one in Toronto on May 19.
As for Boris, they'll be playing at All Tomorrow's Parties New York 2010 fest on September 5, collaborating with fellow noiseniks SunnO))) for a live performance of the band's collaborative Altar release.
