Torche to Release Songs for Singles in September

Published Jul 2, 2010

Floridian doom poppers Torche aren't known for their intense release schedule: since 2005, the band have put out only two short full-lengths. But fans are going to get an earful (well, relatively speaking) over the next little while, as not only was the Chapter Ahead Being Fake split release with Japanese experimental noise group/Ian Astbury collaborators Boris just given a North American release, but Torche have announced a September release date for their third album, Songs for Singles.

The album will be released on September 21 through Hydra Head Records. It follows up 2008's Meanderthal, an album which was met with near-fanatical critical enthusiasm. Not much info is out there yet about the new album, but here's what we do know: the thing is only 20 minutes long (a full six of those are the last track) and there are eight songs on the album; a tracklisting is below and the cover is above.

To get an idea of what the album's going to be like, you can check out a humorous alternate version of opening cut "U.F.O." from the recent Hydra Head Records free sampler, available for download here.

Torche have some tour dates lined up for July and August, and an October appearance at the Fest 9 in Gainesville; unfortunately, no Canadian dates yet. A listing of the shows is below.
