With the closure of Rehearsal Factory, Toronto bands have been facing a practice space shortage. Luckily, some new spaces have opened up in the wake of Rehearsal Factory, and here's another one: Primal Note Studios has just opened up in the city's York district.
The facility is found at 1141 Roselawn Avenue (Unit 2). It offers shared monthly rooms and hourly rentals; the hourly rooms include a drum kit, amps and a PA system. There are 17 purpose-built, soundproofed rooms in total.
In an email to Exclaim!, Primal Note's Ben Reaburn confirmed that he runs the space with Christina Chan and Matt Pineau. The company began as an indie record label and YouTube channel, but after the founders lost their practice space when Rehearsal Factory closed, they decided to open up their own space.
Primal Note Studios had its soft launch on November 1 and will be fully operational in December. The facility also includes an event space for showcases, workshops and industry nights.
