After over half a century of business on Harbord Street, Toronto guitar shop Ring Music has reportedly closed its doors for good.
The long-running repair shop — which served famous Canadian players like Gordon Lightfoot and Bruce Cockburn, as well as members of Blue Rodeo and Barenaked Ladies over its 51 years of operation — closed last month, BlogTO reports.
Per the site, Harbord Street BIA chair Neil Wright confirmed that the three-storey property that was home to Ring Music had been sold to new owners. It is unclear what will replace the outgoing business.
Ring Music was founded in 1969 as part of Ring Audio, an A/V equipment business now located in Toronto's East end. Ring Music moved across the street to its now-shuttered location at 90 Harbord St. in 1972.
The shop's sporadic web presence has yet to acknowledge the closure, and while its website remains active, BlogTO points out that viewers will be redirected to an online pharmacy should they try visiting through a Google search.
