Toronto ska-punk soldiers the Filthy Radicals make their liberating return on the Freedom 45 EP — the long-awaited follow-up to their 2016 album Cloak and Stagger.
Five years later, the six-piece have delivered a new collection of tunes produced by Andrew DeNure. "'Freedom 45' is four rad ska-punk bangers that are filthy from back to front," lead singer and guitarist Kyle Jewitt said in a statement.
Trumpet player Molly Vaclav added: "Fast and crass, blastin' brass, smells like ass; this release checks all the boxes of the Filthy Experience."
The band describes themselves as what would happen if "Mischief Brew and Choking Victim spawned a horny, ADHD brain demon seed raised on the early internet by the '90s revival scene." Embodying the working-class struggle in their punk-rock ethos, the Filthy Radicals go for broke energetically every time; just ask their loyal local following of Filthy Fam!
