Torun Eriksen

Glittercard

What the hell is in the water in Norway? Reminiscent of Beady Belle, Torun Eriksen is another talented artist out of Scandinavia, holding it down in the soul, jazz and electronica genres. Eriksen has a wonderfully subtle and pure voice; the earnest sincerity, for lack of a better word, spews effortlessly from her mouth. While at times the album is very slow, it’s not boring and plays like a strictly authentic jazz album, with enough rhythm to wander into an easy listening or a down-tempo, soul direction. There are some incredibly talented groups coming out of Norway, fronted by talented women. Their soulful realness and vibrancy are keeping alive a vocal style while simultaneously pushing the envelope of smooth grooves to the next level.
