Update: Trent Reznor Reportedly Stays on with Beats

Dr. Dre is a very rich man thanks to Apple's massive buyout of Beats, but what about his streaming service partner, Trent Reznor? Apparently the Nine Inch Nails leader, who served as Beats Music's chief creative officer, is no longer with the company.

This news comes from a USA Today article about the new merger. Reznor's name is mentioned in a list of former Beats execs no longer on the payroll.

It's unclear who broke up with who, but Consequence of Sound points out that Reznor has had some less-than-glowing things to say about Apple in the past. When Apple rejected Nine Inch Nails' application to release an iPhone app in 2009, Reznor ranted [via Wired] about the company's "stupid fucking standards" and said, "You can buy The Downward Fucking Spiral on iTunes, but you can't allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it... Hey Apple, I just got some spam about fucking hot Asian teens through your e-mail program. I just saw two guys having explicit anal sex right there in Safari! On my iPhone! Come on Apple, think your policies through and for fuck's sake get your app approval scenario together."

We're not sure if Reznor got a payout from the Apple merger.

UPDATE: According to Rolling Stone, Reznor is in fact staying on with Beats, contrary to initial reports. However, it's unclear what his role and responsibilities will be following the deal with Apple.
