Tuppert

Free

BY Amber AuthierPublished Dec 1, 2001

Just so I am not misunderstood (or ever misquoted), here are my exact thoughts on this debut CD from Quebec-based band Tuppert. Free is the most uninspired and uninteresting record I have heard in a long time. Lyrically, the songs explore only three topics in 13 songs (and how many stories can be told about girls, freedom and road trips?). Overused vocal effects (think Cher in the era of Believe, or any new wave song from 1986) attempt to cover the limited ability of vocalist and band namesake Brian Tuppert. The rest of the band is mediocrity at its best. I actually forced myself to listen to this record a number of times just to find something nice to say about it; I couldn't come up with anything.
