Twin Shadow (a.k.a. new wave-flavoured pop prince George Lewis Jr.), is keeping his UNDER THE CVRS series going, this time with a glossy redo of '90s-era R&B outfit 112's "Cupid."
While the 1997 original was a faux-harpsichord-employing, snap-heavy slow jam, Twin Shadow alters the track with a blurry mix of shushed vocals, twisty synth patterns and a finger-blistering guitar solo. Visually, the redo balances shots of the artist hopping and bopping in near-darkness in front of a microphone with old-school CG animation plucked from virtual reality flick The Lawnmower Man.
