Working under his Twin Shadow moniker, George Lewis Jr. has spent recent time reworking other artists' music as part of his UNDER THE CVRS series. Following his take on Tori Amos' "Silent All These Years," he's now paid homage to Lou Reed with a cover of "Perfect Day."
Here, Lewis Jr. offers a sombre, somewhat haunting take on the original from Reed's seminal Transformer LP. Minimal instrumentation slowly builds to include a drumbeat, but it ultimately takes a backseat to the moody, occasionally operatic vocal delivery.
