Twisted Sister

The Video Years

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jul 6, 2007

Riding high with the success of their comical, albeit well done, holiday album, Twisted Sister take another step out of obscurity and unleash The Video Years. A chronological compilation of their unforgettable, plot-based "short films” — yeah, they’re glorified music videos — that helped define music television’s heyday, the disc kicks off via an unsigned Sister jamming with Motörhead on British television, then tears through "You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll,” "Hot Love,” "I Wanna Rock,” "Leader Of The Pack” and more. Sadly though, some videos have been edited slightly, which seems pointless and moderately frustrating. Why would they omit the indelibly entertaining dinner sequence that opens "We’re Not Gonna Take It?” Lord knows. Still, introductions to each piece are enlightening and almost as entertaining as seeing Dee Snider and crew prance around in glam makeup and dragged-out football uniforms. Bonus solo interviews and the complete Still Hungry live concert also help make up for the misguided snips.
