Ty Segall

San Francisco's Ty Segall amped up the fun and the crowd participation in the grimy basement of the Seahorse. And you know a festival show is going to be good when you see all the bands that played last night in the audience. Bursting onstage in a blast of fuzzy garage rock, Segall exuded an easygoing California attitude, bouncing through a set of songs that conjure up '60s psychedelia mixed with garage punk. If you weren't having fun already, Segall made sure you got in on it: when one guy climbed onstage, Segall stopped security from throwing him off. "Nothing wrong with being stoked, right?" he said. By the last song, Segall was sending random objects crowd-surfing, and then himself, inviting the singer from opener Teenanger and the audience up on stage to take over vocal duties.
