Tyvek

Detroit's Tyvek have already released some fantastic (and quickly sold-out) records on taste-making labels like What's Yr Rupture, S-S and as part of the Sub Pop Singles Series, so the anticipation for them to drop their first LP has been building. Suffice to say, it was well worth the wait. Besides its adorable claymation cover art, the record boasts some of the most fully realized Tyvek material yet. Whether they're laid back charmers like "Duck Blinds" or pumping garage anthems like "Hey Una" the songs are impossible not to love. They're also complemented by a wealth of diversity, whether it's the recorder solos on "Circular Ruins," the spread-out jam of "Building Burning" or the sometimes lo-fi, sometimes mid-fi production. One listen to Tyvek's self-titled full-length and it's immediately clear that this is more than hyped lo-fi garage; it's genuine rock'n'roll.
