Unwound

'6/30/1999: Reykjavik, Iceland' (album stream)

There's still a couple of months to go before the Numero Group delivers its third box-set celebration of influential Pacific Northwest outfit Unwound, but the label has a special treat for fans in the meantime. A deluxe version of the No Energy collection comes with a bonus LP of a live set recorded in Iceland, and you can now stream the full concert online.

Captured during a 1999 European tour, the Reykjavik-area performance kicks off with a Icelandic-language intro comparing the crew to Mogwai and Sonic Youth, leaving the group to outshine the notion with slow-burning post-rock jam "Abstraktions," the tightly wound expulsion of feedback and shouts known as "Dragnalus" and the loud-quiet-loud assault of "For Your Entertainment."

Grab a spoon and a tub of skyr, slap on an Icelandic wool sweater and stream the show down below. No Energy arrives October 14, with the deluxe edition limited to 1,000 copies.
