Despite passing away in 2003, Johnny Cash is still thrilling country music fans. The Man in Black's nearly 50-year career garnered much acclaim, from early hits like "I Walk the Line" up to his American Recordings sessions with Rick Rubin, but inevitably some stuff had to have been lost in the shuffle. The announcement of a new compilation purports to bring some of these forgotten nuggets back to the forefront.
Vintage Vinyl News [via NME] points to a listing up on Amazon for Bootlegs 2: From Memphis to Hollywood, a two-disc set covering Cash's early career.
The first disc will focus on the singer's time in Memphis, featuring a radio broadcast hosted by Cash, 11 unheard demos and seven outtakes from his time at Sun Records. The second disc is a collection of non-album singles, B-sides and outtakes from his Columbia Records days between 1958 and 1969.
A tracklisting has yet to appear, but the anthology is set to drop February 22, courtesy of Columbia/Legacy.
