Aging big beat champ Norman Cook has denied he is dropping his Fatboy Slim moniker. In a statement, his management has "categorically" confirmed Cook will continue under the Fatboy Slim name, NME reports, and has no name-change planned for his upcoming festival dates or his forthcoming album, The BPA (Brighton Port Authority).
The statement follows several stories yesterday (including one here at Exclaim!) that reported Cook is in the midst of changing his name, partly in efforts to give his dwindling career a much needed boost.
"Yes, I am ditching the Fatboy Slim name but I cant tell you the new one," Cook told the Sun earlier this week. "Im going to take the Fifth Amendment on that question and not say because Ill get myself into trouble.
Perhaps next time Cook and his management should sit down and get their stories straight before spouting off to the media.
