Originally hailing from Sweden, songstress Sarah MacDougall is now based out of Vancouver and is quickly making her mark on the world of Canadian music. She drew on some on some of Western Canada's acclaimed folk talent when recording her sophomore full-length, The Greatest Ones Alive, which will be out August 9.
It was recorded in Vancouver and Whitehorse. The sessions were produced by Matt Rogers (the Fugitives, Mark Berube, C.R. Avery), and Bob Hamilton (Kim Barlow), and feature guest spots from Kim Beggs, Kim Barlow and many more.
This is the follow-up to 2009's Across the Atlantic. A press release describes the album's ten tracks as "melodic, beautifully written, epic, and touching," with themes that range from "storms (literal and metaphoric), success, growing up, love, friendship, and dying." Get a dose of MacDougall's wisdom in the expansive, acoustic cut "Sometimes You Lose, Sometimes You Win," which is streaming at the bottom of this page.
