It's hard to believe that Montreal-based Turbo Records is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary. What makes it particularly difficult to notice the label's age is the fact that the brand has kept up with the blinding pace of fashionable dance music since its start. The brainchild of Tiga and his brother, Thomas Von Party, Turbo has been at the forefront of tech house, electro and techno since the turn of the millennium. With artists like Chromeo, ZZT, Brodinski, D.I.M. and Boyz Noize on their roster, Turbo continues to push the edge of the digital dance floor. Omnidance isn't an overview of what the label has done in the last decade, rather it's a picture of what's going on with Turbo right now, and it seems that things will keep accelerating into the stylized retro futurism synonymous with the label. ZZT's "Lower State of Consciousness" sounds like a stiletto-ed supermodel spilled cheap champagne on a SID chip, while the intense, tweaked-out phasing of Brodinski's "Oblivion (Noob rmx)" is bound to catalyze some peak party moments. With 26 tracks of acid-soaked electro and tech house, including stellar contributions by Cari Lekebusch, the Dahlback brothers, the DMX Crew and Moby, this collection is an indicator that Turbo will continue to be relevant for years to come.
