Trapez 100

BY Bryan WellsPublished Oct 13, 2009

Celebrating 100 vinyl releases is always cause for celebration. In the case of German minimalist techno label Trapez, it's an opportune moment in history to showcase some of the top talent it's accumulated over the past nine years. Since its inception, Trapez has been at the forefront of the minimalist techno movement, which is currently gaining popularity. Artists such as Jeff Samuel, Dominik Eulberg and Gabriel Ananda lend stellar tracks to Trapez 100, which are as equally current as they are classic. This album isn't without its faults though; Christian Martin's remix of UND's "Fox in the Box" is a weak attempt at fusing squelchy bass drops and comedic vocals, leaving much to be desired. For every one good tune on Trapez 100 there are two poor ones. DJs looking to get hands in the air and feet moving will like this effort, although this isn't an album for people looking to tickle their brain with new ideas.
