Bargrooves is a decent house mix. Much of it is fairly laid-back, and ranges from jazzy to funky to beat-driven. The first CD is mixed by Ben Sowton. His mix is heavy on the funk and jazz. Standout tracks include Ame Strong’s "Tout Est Bleu” and Tomahawk’s "Is Music.” Both feature very cool vocals. Disc two is selected by Justin Ballard. He goes more for the deep and sexy tracks, like Dark Boogie’s "Living My Life” with its excellent female vocals as well as Groove Junkie’s "Deeper” and Tony Hewitt’s "Party People.” Many of the tracks have a sunny, summertime feel, and would certainly suit any warm day outdoors. The pace of both mixes never gets out of control, and they can definitely be enjoyed sitting down, on a long car ride, or actually dancing.
