Originally released as a triple vinyl box set in 1996, the Harmony of the Spheres compilation has finally made its digital debut. Envisioned as a six-sided compilation whereby each participating group gets a full side to create an extra-long composition, the double CD version contains three bands per disc and nearly two hours of music from a few of the finest space rock/modern psychedelia bands around. Bardo Pond gets the collection off to a swirling start with the Krautrock-inspired “Sangh Seriatim,” followed immediately by the very hushed sounds of England's Flying Saucer Attack playing in a much more ambient style than their recent recordings. The collection also contains excellent contributions from the droning Jessamine, ambient guitarists Roy Montgomery and Loren Mazzacaine Connors, and Texan space rockers Charlambides (whose leader Jason Bill has released solo endeavours through the Drunken Fish label as well).
