In the year 2000, San Francisco and California sprung up with what came to be called the West Coast house sound. This compilation is an attempt to carry on that vibe and feeling. All the tracks fall into the category deep or tech-house. I also have to wonder if these 11 groups were all working in the same studio, since many similar sounds pop up again and again in the bass lines and the melodies. The standout tracks include Petalpusher's "Rely on Me," Cloud City's soulful vocal "Show U Love" and the best on the album, the slow dirty funk of Rocket's "Last Prayer." But many of the other tracks have an anaemic feel that makes them less enjoyable home listening, and probably equally boring in a club.
