Take Action Volume 8

BY Sheena LyonnaisPublished Mar 26, 2009

Hopeless Records and Sub City have released the eighth instalment of punk and rock tracks designed for summer road trips, and to raise money for www.dosomething.org, a not-for-profit organization that encourages youth to make changes in the world and get things done. The CD portion comes with a quick PSA by Cute Is What we Aim For and 19 tracks by a variety of bands, from the melodic hardcore of Emery's "The Smile, The Face" to the electro-pop of Breath Carolina's "Diamonds." The DVD portion features 12 music videos and an explanatory video about what dosomething.org has done and helped youth do. It's hard to criticize an album that benefits an organization that's been working for a decade-strong in the punk community to really make a difference. Highlights include tracks by Red Car Wire and Sing It Loud, which are reminiscent of earlier punk releases. It's simply a fun, great and affordable compilation for a wonderful cause.
