The Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker Gets Career-Spanning Anthology

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 3, 2012

Moe Tucker may not have endeared herself to many Velvet Underground fans when she showed up at the right-wing Tea Party protests a couple of years back, but that isn't stopping the drummer from releasing the career-spanning compilation I Feel So Far Away: Anthology 1974-1998.

This collection is out now through Sundazed Music. It's available either as a two-CD or three-LP set, with four of the tracks exclusive to the CD version. According to an announcement from the label, "Moe's solo work is perhaps the most direct continuation of the band's sound and structure. She never lost her love for pure, lean rock'n'roll."

Among the songs included here are Tucker-led covers of several Velvet Underground tracks like "Heroin," "Pale Blue Eyes" and "I'm Waiting for the Man." There's also a version of "I'm Sticking with You," a Velvets cut that was originally sung by Tucker. These songs, along with other highlights from Tucker's solo career, "cover a gamut of styles but all bear the unmistakable thumbprint of their creator."

The anthology was mastered by Bob Irwin and comes with liner notes by David Fricke. See the tracklist below and order a copy here.
