A Verse Unsung

The Autumn EP

BY Michelle CampbellPublished Aug 16, 2007

There’s something unsettling about a typical teenage emo rock band in the style of 30 Seconds to Mars or Underoath with an EP produced by the same guy who’s turned out albums for Janet Jackson and Boys II Men, especially one whose claim to fame is their 5,000 Myspace friends. A Verse Unsung are a fresh out of high school four-piece from Minneapolis that really show their age. While apparently getting noticed on the college radio airwaves south of the border, A Verse Unsung have yet to make much of a stir elsewhere. Perhaps that can be attributed to the fact that the album they are promoting, a five-song EP entitled The Autumn EP, is filled with annoyingly similar tracks with lacklustre lyrics and less than shining guitar hooks that leave the listener wondering just how far a random yet well known producer and a management team comprised of parents can carry such an atrocity.
