After having his music featured in film and TV shows, Vince Staples is now set to star on the silver screen in his first-ever lead role.
As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the Long Beach MC will star in independent feature Punk from Brian Kavanaugh-Jones' Automatik and writer-director Richard Hughes.
Punk centres on protagonist Peter (Staples) who takes off a road trip with a group of free-spirited companions after receiving a disheartening rejection letter. He soon discovers the crew to be bank robbers, headed up by a "modern-day Robin Hood" who is on the FBI's Most Wanted list.
THR reports that Kavanaugh-Jones will produce Punk alongside Braden Aftergood and his Eighty Two Films banner.
Staples had previously played a minor role in Rick Famuyiwa's 2015 film Dope, which also starred Zoë Kravitz, A$AP Rocky and Blake Anderson. Earlier this year, he told everyone "Get the Fuck Off My Dick."
