Wale

"By Any Means" (ft. Meek Mill, Pill and Rick Ross)

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 10, 2011

When Wale first burst into the rap scene with his Seinfeld-referencing Mixtape About Nothing, he was lumped in with the new era of anti-gangster rappers, along with Drake and Kid Cudi. Of course, his pop-leaning major label debut, Attention Deficit, didn't pan out so well so he's reinvented himself as a thug and signed with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group.

"By Any Means" is a leak from upcoming Maybach Music Group crew album Self Made, and showcases Wale and his label-mates atop a generic but banging beat courtesy of Lil Lody. Sure, Wale is either faking his persona now or he was back then, but keep in mind that his portly label head Ross was a correctional officer before reinventing himself as the fake coke dealer he pretends to be now. They're just really good actors.
