The Walkmen’s Singer Messes With Texas Hotel

Hamilton Leithauser, front man for Brooklyn-based indie darlings the Walkmen, was arrested in Austin during South By Southwest on Thursday March 15. Reports claim Leithauser was taken into custody by police after an incident at the Crown Plaza Austin Hotel.

Leithauser declared it was a misunderstanding regarding the keys and a snooty night desk clerk, but that "I got arrested and spent 12 hours in jail. It was a real treat!” The musician had been drinking heavily and has admitted that his inebriated state was partially responsible for the mix-up.

The arrest, however, did not interfere with the band’s performance, which closed out the Don’t Mess with Texas showcase, where they previewed songs like "I Lost You,” "Red River” and "Ride Down the Highway,” which may or may not appear on their fourth album.

The Walkmen return to Canada to play dates with Kaiser Chiefs in Montreal on April 17 (Spectrum), Toronto on the 18th (Kool Haus) and Vancouver on the 24th.
