The Walkmen Prep New Album, Play Some North American Shows

After slowing picking away at a new record for a good two years, the Walkmen have finally wrapped up their four album proper, You & Me. On August 19, the album is set to drop via their new label, Gigantic Music, and promises a return to "classic form,” with "meticulously constructed, unique-sounding rock songs,” or at least that’s according to the band’s press release.

The New York City five-piece recorded their new sonic offering at various studios and rehearsal spaces scattered throughout the U.S., doing a bit Philly, a bit in Mississippi and some in their hometown. The sessions resulted in hundreds of discarded eight-track tapes, a whole lot of between-studio travel, 14 album tracks and one record that clocks in just shy of an hour. The press release also tells us we can expect a lot of early rock'n'roll references in this one, with Elvis, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison all having a heavy influence on You & Me, as well as Randy Newman, the Modern Lovers and Pogues.

In conjunction with the album release, the Walkmen will be hitting up a small chunk of cities here in Canada and the U.S. Here are the dates, along with the tracklisting to You & Me:
