Keeping up with their record of releasing an album every two years for the last decade, world-weary indie quintet the Walkmen will bestow fans with a new album, their first since their 2008 full-length You & Me, this fall.
Lisbon, the band's fifth album of original material, is due September 14 from new label, Fat Possum. The album was recorded over a two-year period, in warehouses in Philadelphia and Brooklyn, two cities where the band members are situated.
The 11-track album, which was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Mountain Goats, Thermals) and engineered by Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Les Savy Fav), is named after the Portuguese city in which a number of the songs were written.
Speaking about the album to Pitchfork, front-man Hamilton Leithauser stated that "The instrumentation is very simple, and then there's a very loud vocal and a softish drum. There is a slapback guitar on everything."
