Wand Reveal '1000 Days' for Drag City

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 8, 2015

Increasingly prolific psych-pop crew Wand have announced that they're issuing their second full-length mind-melter of 2015 in a couple of months. Following up this spring's Golem is 1000 Days, Wand's first album for new label home Drag City. It materializes into retailers September 25.

A press release explains that the trio of guitarist/vocalist Cory Hanson, drummer Evan Burrows and bassist Lee Landey recorded the 12-song set in studios in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The set is said to feature a mix of acoustic tones and hi-fi noises that come across as "raucous, impassive, inevitable musical expressions."

First single "Stolen Footsteps" is a hazy strummer that kind of comes across like a Brian Eno track, circa Here Come the Warm Jets. You'll find a stream of the song down below.

1000 Days is the band's third album since last August. Debut disc Ganglion Reef was issued through God?, while Golem landed via In the Red Records.

In addition to a new LP, Wand have a bunch of tour dates coming up over the next several months. Their travel plans cover North America and Europe. A Vancouver booking on Halloween has them opening for Mac DeMarco, while headlining appearances are also taking place in Toronto and Montreal the following month.
