Warpaint

Documentary Trailer (video)

Warpaint's much-anticipated self-titled sophomore set slides into stores tomorrow (January 21), but an alternate vision of the quartet's latest song cycle will soon be explored in a documentary from director Chris Cunningham. A launch date for the film has yet to be revealed, but you can see a sneak preview of it packaged with a snippet of album single "Love Is to Die."

As you can see in the player down below, Cunningham managed to film the band over the last two years as they laid down subtle post-punk grooves in a variety of settings, from studios to loft apartments to dried up desert settings. With all that in mind, it's unclear just where the intimate though darkness-cloaked close-up shot of Emily Kokal singing the song's whispery refrain took place.

The arrival time of the documentary is still up in the air, but will apparently feature re-imagined versions of Warpaint songs, as presented by Cunningham.
