Watch Chappell Roan's NPR Tiny Desk Concert

The burgeoning pop star brought wiggy theatrics to the NPR office

Chappell Roan joined the ranks of NPR Tiny Desk concert alumni today with her performance of five songs from her debut album, last year's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

Accompanied by her pink-clad band, Roan performed "Casual," "Pink Pony Club," "Picture You," "California" and "Red Wine Supernova" with some dazzling vocal acrobatics and a seriously bonkers wig.

Tiny Desk concerts are usually pretty stripped-back affairs, but Roan (unsurprisingly) went draggy and larger-than-life, bringing the scrappy theatrics of Midwest Princess to fit in Bob Boilen's office space, making for a commanding and energetic performance.

As a Tiny Desk tradition, artists usually leave behind an offering after their performances, which can range from a guitar pick or a CD — Chappell Roan left behind her wig.

You can catch Roan opening for Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS Tour, coming to Toronto on March 29 and 30 at Scotiabank Arena.
