In the latest instalment of artists to jump on the tail end of Lil Nas X's viral clout, we now have Anderson .Paak covering the No. 1 hit.
.Paak recently appeared on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge for an intimate performance packed full of jazzy versions of his own catalogue and a special cover of "his best friend" Lil Nas X's summer hit "Old Town Road." At the beginning of the performance .Paak can be heard saying "let's do it our way." And that he does — this version of "Old Town Road" is something like you've never heard.
Flanked in the studio by a full band, including a duo of crooning backup singers, .Paak morphs the hip-hop/country hit into something entirely different.
Listen to the super smooth cover of "Old Town Road" down below.
"Old Town Road" spent a record-breaking 19 weeks as Billboard's No. 1 single this summer. It was eventually dethroned by Billie Eilish's "bad guy" this past August.
.Paak's most recent release Ventura arrived in April, but he's been keeping busy collaborating with various artists in between his live performances. His most recent collaboration was with Freddie Gibbs for his Bandana track "Giannis."
