The BET Awards were handed out last night (October 16), and one of the evening's most memorable moments saw Anderson .Paak eulogizing late rapper Mac Miller.
Taking the podium, .Paak praised Miller for his talent and generosity, as well as his influence over the next generation of hip-hop artists.
"Legends never die and Mac Miller not was — but is — a whole legend," .Paak said. "Mac Miller did more in 26 years than some of y'all could do in three lifetimes. He never hesitated to extend his hand to the people he loved. He was responsible for putting on so many artists. He not only influenced me but a whole generation of new, creative, independent artists."
He continued: "Mac Miller was a humble rock star. He was a rapper's rapper. He was an actor, a comedian, a musical genius, a heartthrob. Mac Miller was a brother. He was my friend. I loved him and I still love him. Thank you Mac for all the good times. Thank you for being you."
He also gave a shout-out to the Mac Miller Circles Fund, which was recently established to provide programming, resources and opportunities in the arts to youth in underserved communities.

Miller died of a suspected overdose in September, though his official cause of death was still unclear following an autopsy. He was 26.
