Last week, Hannah Georgas announced that she would be releasing new music alongside a mysterious Instagram post that read "That Emotion." Well, she wasn't lying — and today we have her new single, as well as an accompanying Zachary Hertzman-directed music video.
The track is our first glimpse at what will soon be a new record from Georgas, who has just signed to Arts & Crafts in Canada. Her new work comes from a collaboration with the National's Aaron Dessner, with whom she agreed that the production on the record needs to "bring out the truth in [her] voice." In fact, her upcoming album will arrive via Dessner's own imprint Brassland in the U.S.
So far, no details on the new album have surfaced — but today, we have its first single and visual effort in "That Emotion."
"The song is a portrait of one particular way that emotions can build up inside," Georgas explained of the Dessner-produced track in a statement. "You're going through the motions, suppressing how you really feel, and pretending things are ok — but your body knows…that deep down life and worry can weigh you down in ways your head might not acknowledge. This song was inspired by the feeling of hiding emotions you would like to express but feeling alone."
Georgas's most recent album was 2016's For Evelyn.
Watch the video for "That Emotion" below, and stay tuned for more updates on the artist's forthcoming record.
