The White Stripes famously didn't have a bassist — so it's rather ironic that singer-guitarist Jack White's daughter now plays bass, and earlier this week joined her dad on stage.

On Monday (January 16), Jack White played the Blue Room at his Third Man Records facility in Nashville, TN. During the show, White's 16-year-old daughter Scarlett joined the band on bass for a rendition of the White Stripes' 2003 single "The Hardest Button to Button." That song didn't have bass in its original version, as White played the low parts on Elephant with his guitar and an octave pedal.

White included photos and videos from the moment as part of a gallery on Instagram. His ex-wife, Karen Elson — who is Scarlett's mom — also posted footage on Instagram. She wrote, "Miss Scarlett Teresa White. My beautiful, kind, never wants to be the center of attention with a heart of solid gold daughter. What a sweet moment with her papa bear."

All in all, it's a pretty cool way to spend a school night. See photos and videos below.

This isn't the first time Scarlett has played bass with her dad: she's credited with playing bass on the studio version of "Into the Twilight" from last year's Fear of the Dawn.
