Watch the Beaches Cover the Cure's "Boys Don't Cry"

The Toronto band put their spin on the 1979 classic for Amazon Music's CURVED series

The Beaches were everywhere in 2023. Even before the release of their first independent record, Blame My Ex, the Toronto quartet had found their people — and newfound success with the TikTok-viral hit "Blame Brett," which even had Mark Hoppus singing along.

They're the latest artists to take part in Amazon Music's CURVED series. Recorded at the new Amazon Music Content Studios, the intimate live sets are filmed to have an intentionally "cinematic feel" in an attempt to recreate the experience of being at a concert.

The Beaches shared a rendition of "Blame Brett" from the series a couple weeks ago and have now released a live cover of the Cure's 1979 classic "Boys Don't Cry," which they've called "one of our fave things we've ever done."

Playing it fairly true to the original, frontperson Jordan Miller's gravelly alto is a (just like) heaven-made match for Robert Smith's signature plaintive drawl. If this is any indication, the band have no fears of getting stuck — they're ready to have another banner year in 2024, with a big hometown show at Budweiser Stage already in the books for this summer to celebrate.
