Vampire Weekend fans have been waiting with bated breath for a new record, but before the group reveal any plans for new music, frontman Ezra Koenig has unveiled a new Netflix anime that will arrive on the service this month.
Titled Neo Yokio, Koenig's series follows "magistocat" Kaz Kaan, a character voiced by Jaden Smith who is tasked with defending the titular "greatest city in the world" from the occult. The six-episode series will arrive through Netflix on September 22.
The series also features voice work from the likes of Jude Law, Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi, Jason Schwartzman, Willow Smith, Kiernan Shipka, Desus & Mero, Tavi Gevinson and Amandla Stenberg.
The series will feature new original music from Blood Orange's Dev Hynes and Baths, in addition to works by Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi.
Koenig created, wrote and executive produced the series, with art coming from Studio Deen, MOI and Production IG (FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, Attack on Titan). You can find a trailer in the player below.
