Surfer Blood frontman John Paul Pitts faced some personal and legal struggles in 2012, but the band are looking to return with a new album in 2013. Their sophomore LP is called Pythons and you can preview the track "Weird Shapes" right now.
The song is a crunchy and tuneful rocker that sounds relatively similar to the band's 2010 album Astro Coast, although the buried screaming during the chorus turnaround presents a slightly more aggressive side of the band.
Pythons' details have yet to be confirmed, but previous reports have indicated that it would arrive throughWarner Bros. The album was produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters).
The band will play some California shows in the coming weeks. See their schedule over at their website.
