Weregoat

Upon first listen, it's hard to tell if Weregoat are performance art or just the metallic droning of a mentally deranged trio. After careful consideration, it's safe to say they're both. Only a band that have seriously considered and sought out fringe aesthetics and the limits of listenability could have produced Unholy Exaltation of Fullmoon Perversity. At the same time, this group of people must also be thoroughly divorced from reality, since this album clearly demonstrates a lack of concern for the listener's comfort and wellbeing – this is essentially the work of a band of sociopaths. Weregoat bring together members of Ritual Necromancy and Aldeberan for a kind of extreme death super-group. The band's artistic genius and deranged state of mind have produced an album so crushingly intense that you'll be left in awe of the experience. Bridging death and drone, this unstoppable torrent of blast beats and cavernous echoing grunts will leave you scarred for life and tapping your foot a little. There's definitely something intriguing about a record this bleak and dissonant, kind of like a car crash you can't help but look at.
